β β β β Review | Really great way to break down a daunting task into smaller parts. As a person who has unlimited ideas, I often find myself overwhelmed before I even start writing. This class helped me to feel a sense of accomplishment by completing a deliverable, as well as confirming for me that screenwriting is my personal path of least resistance due to its simplicity. I don't feel like I have to write an 80,000-word book to actualize my story. Thanks for making this class. - Dee W.
β β β β Review | The simple instructions really help you unfold your creativity. I was worried that writing such a simple scene would be hard, then I thought about my character, and what street they'd be in, and what they'd be doing there, and so many unexpected things came to mind! Brilliant class, thank you! - Gaelle
β β β β Review | I so enjoyed this course. It is concise and straightforward. I know this is voted as a beginner course, but it helps to get back to basics and practice going through a specific process. This course allowed me to understand how to frame my thoughts in writing for a visual medium, which I have struggled with- I tend to write thought over action- and the screen is ACTION! Thank you for helping me to write one of the most well-rounded and well-formatted scenes. I feel confident that I can finally finish a short film. - Talia Davis
β β β β Review | A fun, breezy intro to screenwriting that allows you to take it at your own pace, simple tasks that nonetheless show a window into how the screenwriting process works. - Dar Laufer

"Simple action is the antidote to complexity. And like any good paradox, the ability to do simple allows us to create much more complexity. This technique will help us snap out of overthinking and always keep going."
THE STORY BEHIND THIS CLASS
I've been writing screenplays for a long time, but a few years ago, I hit a major roadblock in my writing process. I was working on a scene where a character needed to cross a street. For six months, I struggled to move this character from one side of the street to the other because I kept overthinking the scene.
It was then that I realized my problem: I couldn't help my character perform a simple action. This realization was a huge wake-up call for me. Since then, I've adopted a method that I now use consistently in my writing classes and in my personal writing. This method has helped me focus on simplicity and overcome similar obstacles in my creative process.
Anytime I work on an idea, I use the method in this class for myself - it helps me remember how to take one step at a time. Ideas run, even fly. Writing is about taming them.
"I've spent years developing and testing the method for this class, and I can't wait to share it with you. It involves a gradual, almost annoyingly slow and simple process, presented through a series of contained & precise lessons."
